As many of you know, I’ve been transitioning to a new post as the Executive Director of the Community Foundation of South Jersey, a start-up community foundation serving the eight-county South Jersey region.  The transition is “for the most part” complete although there are still unopened boxes at my new home in Haddonfield, NJ.

This new adventure has caused me to rethink this blog and I’ve decided to transition  it from an “I blog” to a “We blog.” Innovate 2 Uplift will now emphasize and aggregate the diverse voices of several changebloggers, all for the purpose of promoting social change.  The last post, “Courage to Create” was written the first addition to the Innovate 2 Uplift blog family, Erin Scott.  Erin is philanthropic professional from Columbus, Ohio who is a graduate student at the John Glenn School of Public Affairs at The Ohio State University and the PowerPhilanthropy Administrator at The Columbus Foundation.  Please welcome Erin!

"Why Uplift?"

This blog covers the issues of our world community and the people whose innovative ideas will bring about sustainable solutions for the good of all. The word “Uplift” is used as a metaphor for “sustainable” social change. Uplift was borrowed from the ideology of “racial uplift” espoused by twentieth century civil rights leaders that sought new approaches to social change in their pursuit of racial equality. Similarly, today's innovators seek new approaches to social change that will uplift the human race.
